John Denver is a popular singer and songwriter who has touched many people through his music. Many of these have roots in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. was born in Roswell New Mexico. However, he fell in love Colorado. He later made his way to Aspen. Denver's famous anthems about Colorado have been a major influence on many to relocate to Colorado. G. Brown the curator of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame declared that John Denver was by far one of the most well-known artists who represented Colorado. Denver was the Hall of Fame's inaugural inductee was recognized by the honor in 2011. Denver has become the image of Colorado to many around the world. If you travel with me, you will meet people on the other end of the world. For example an individual who is from New Zealand. And when you say that you are originally from Colorado you will get "Oh John Denver!" Brown declared. Take Me Home Country Roads was one of Denver's top 10 hits after performing with smaller folk groups. It was co-written by and performed by Bill Danoff. Danoff wrote the tune inspired by Johnny Cash, but Denver could hear the song's early versions and was aware that the song would be one of the Top 10 hits. After performing the song in Washington D.C. to a massive crowd, Denver made a recording a few days afterward.
