John Denver, a singer-songwriter from Colorado who was a specialist in folk-pop music touched the hearts of millions. He was born Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. in Roswell New Mexico he fell in affection with Colorado and then relocated to Aspen. Denver's anthems for his adopted state have drawn many to Colorado. G. Brown of Colorado Music Hall of Fame, the hall's curator of fame said: "I don't believe there any other performer who embodies Colorado like John Denver." Denver was inducted into the Hall of Fame as its first member in 2011. For many, Denver is the Colorado image. When I travel, you may meet people at the other end of the planet. As an example, you might meet an individual from New Zealand. And when you say that you are from Colorado people will respond with "Oh John Denver!" Brown stated. Take Me Home Country Roads was co-written by Bill Danoff and Denver after his brief career with folk bands, was Denver's debut Top 10 solo hit. Danoff wrote the tune in the spirit of Johnny Cash, but Denver could hear an early version and knew it was going to be an instant hit in the top 10. The song was performed in Washington D.C. to a massive crowd, Denver recorded it just days afterward.
